Volunteer Information

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for our special December sale! Please take a moment to review the shift descriptions and any special conditions, then sign up for an account to register for your preferred shift.

Friday, December 2, 12noon-3pm, Set-Up
This is our main set-up shift. You will be moving and building racks, shelving, and tables, as we organize and prepare the facility for consignor drop-off. This is a very physical shift, and will take place at least partially outdoors.

Friday, December 2, 2:00-5:00pm, Set-Up and Drop-Off
This shift will continue the set-up process as described above. You will also assist with the beginning of consignor drop-off. If you are consigning, please plan to drop off your own items after your shift ends at 5:00pm. If you could like to make a drop-off appointment, please select a time at 5:15pm or later.

Friday, December 2, 4:00-7:00pm, Drop-Off, Floor Prep, and Quality Control
Volunteers for this shift will be responsible for checking in consignors, confirming that a signed agreement is on file for each consignor, and performing a detailed quality control check on items brought to the sale. Volunteers in this role MUST be comfortable with rejecting items if they do not meet our quality standards. You will also help with placing items and organizing the sales floor. Please note that this shift runs the entire duration of item drop-off. If you are also a consignor and are bringing more than 50 items, we ask that you NOT select this shift. If you have 50 or fewer items, you are eligible to work this shift provided you are able to arrive at 3:30pm to complete your consignor agreement and drop off/place your own items.

Friday, December 2, 4:00-8:00pm, Drop-Off, Floor Prep, and Quality Control
This shift will be responsible for organizing the consignment items and preparing for the pre-sale. Volunteers will also be asked to place concierge-tagged items on the sales floor. This shift is an hour longer than most others, but you will be given 15 minutes before the volunteer pre-sale open to start shopping (possibly longer if our work is finished). However, please do NOT shop or set items aside until your shift leaders announces that volunteer pre-shopping may begin. Please note that this shift runs the entire duration of item drop-off. If you are also a consignor and are bringing more than 50 items, we ask that you NOT select this shift. If you have 50 or fewer items, you are eligible to work this shift provided you are able to arrive at 3:30pm to complete your consignor agreement and allow time to drop off/place your own items.

Saturday, December 3,  7:30-10:30am,  10:15am-1:15pm, 2:00-5:00pm
Bagging/cashier assistance
Volunteers working these shifts will assist the cashiers by bagging customer purchases, checking for lost tags, returning items to the sales floor, and helping the cashiers as needed. During non-peak times, you may be asked to help on the floor (as described below).

General Floor
You will answer shopper questions, assist shoppers as needed, and help keep the sales floor looking neat and organized. This includes performing regular checks of the cashier area to return items not purchased by shoppers to the sales floor, as well as beginning the item sort process. You may also be asked to serve as a Door Guard.

Boutique/Hold Bay
Volunteers working this area will be responsible for assisting shoppers with jewelry and other small but more expensive items. You will tag items that shoppers wish to purchase, and deliver them to the cashier area to be held until the shopper is ready to check out.

Door Greeter
This volunteer will be responsible for remaining at the main sale entrance to greet shoppers, offer them shopping bags, and answer any questions.

Saturday, December 3, 5:00-8:00pm, Item sort/consignor pick-up
This shift will be responsible for making sure that all items on each individual rack are sorted by Sort Number. Some volunteers will switch over to consignor check-out starting at 6:30pm. This shift is ideal for volunteers who are not consigning, or for consignors who have planned to donate their unsold items. If you are planning to retrieve your unsold items, we highly recommend that you select a different shift. If this is your only volunteer option, please be sure that you can finish your own pick-up after your shift ends, but before 9:00pm. You will NOT have the opportunity to pull your items during your shift.

Saturday, December 3, 7:00-10:00pm, Consignor pick-up/break-down
This shift will primarily help with consolidating items, breaking down fixtures/racks/shelving, and helping to load the UHaul and/or trucks. If you are also consigning and plan to pick up your unsold items,  please register for a 6:30 appointment. You MUST be finished with your pick up in time to start working at 7:00; this include any time you may need to place your items in your vehicle.  If you have lots of items, we highly recommend selecting a different shift.
